Asian Crockpot Orange Chicken

A cozy and delicious Asian-inspired orange chicken dish cooked in a slow-cooker, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts (2 pounds)
  • Orange Juice (1 cup)
  • Soy Sauce (½ cup)
  • Honey (¼ cup)
  • Rice Vinegar (2 tablespoons)
  • Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
  • Ginger (1 teaspoon, freshly grated)
  • Cornstarch (2 tablespoons)
  • Sesame Oil (1 tablespoon)
  • Green Onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken: Season the chicken breasts with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Create the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Load up the crockpot: Place seasoned chicken in the crockpot and pour the sauce over it.
  4. Cook low and slow: Set the crockpot to low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  5. Check for doneness: Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of at least 165°F (75°C).
  6. Thicken the sauce: Mix cornstarch with water, add to the crockpot, and cook on high for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Shred & mix: Shred the chicken and return it to the pot with the sauce.
  8. Serve it up: Spoon over rice, garnish with green onions, and enjoy!

Notes

For a spicier kick, add sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce. This recipe is versatile and forgiving.
