Beef Stroganoff

A cozy classic comfort food featuring tender beef in a creamy sauce, perfect for nostalgic dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Beef Sirloin
  • 8 ounces Mushrooms (Cremini or button)
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion, chopped finely
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 2 tablespoons Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by chopping your onions, mincing the garlic, and slicing the mushrooms.
  2. Sauté the Beef: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the beef slices with salt and pepper. In batches, sear the beef for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the Onions and Garlic: In the same skillet, toss in the chopped onions and garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Add the Mushrooms: Cook until they’re golden brown, letting them soften and caramelize for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Thicken the Sauce: Sprinkle in the flour while the mixture is still cooking, then gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring. Bring it to a simmer.
  6. Incorporate the Sour Cream: Lower the heat and stir in the sour cream until fully combined.
  7. Return the Beef: Gently fold the seared beef back into the skillet. Let it simmer under low heat for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Taste and Adjust: Before serving, taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as necessary.

Notes

Serve over egg noodles or rice, and add fresh herbs or vegetables as desired.
