Creamy Chicken Orzo

A comforting, creamy chicken orzo dish that’s hearty and delicious, perfect for a cozy dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Orzo Pasta
  • 2 cups Cooked Chicken, shredded (rotisserie or grilled)
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 2 cups Fresh Spinach
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese, shredded
  • Seasoning (Salt, Pepper, Thyme)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the aromatics: Heat olive oil in a large pot. Add the diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Toss in minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  2. Add the orzo: Stir in the orzo pasta and toast for about a minute to enhance its flavor.
  3. Pour in the broth: Add chicken broth, scraping any stuck bits off the bottom. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Incorporate the chicken and cream: When orzo is al dente and there’s a bit of liquid left, stir in shredded chicken and heavy cream. Adjust heat to low.
  5. Add spinach and season: Toss in fresh spinach, mixing until wilted. Season generously with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  6. Finish with parmesan: Stir in parmesan cheese until melted. Adjust consistency with more broth or water if too thick.

Notes

This dish can be made ahead of time. Reheat gently on the stove and add a splash of broth if too thick.
