Turkey Sweet Potato Hash

A cozy and flavorful dish made with ground turkey, sweet potatoes, and bell peppers, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey
  • 2 Medium Sweet Potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Start by peeling and dicing your sweet potatoes into small cubes (about 1/2 inch). Chop your bell peppers and onion. Dice the garlic finely.
  2. Cook the sweet potatoes: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, toss in your diced sweet potatoes. Sauté for about 10 minutes until they’re slightly golden and tender.
  3. Add aromatics: Push the sweet potatoes to one side of the skillet. In the free space, add a little more oil and toss in your onion and garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  4. Brown the turkey: Season the ground turkey with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and chili powder. Add it to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned all over, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Incorporate bell peppers: Add your bell peppers to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes until they soften but maintain a bit of crunch.
  6. Final seasoning: Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Let the mixture simmer for another couple of minutes for all the flavors to meld together beautifully.

Notes

Top with a fried or poached egg for added richness. Fresh herbs like thyme or parsley can enhance the dish.
