Southern Fried Salmon Patties

Comforting classic Southern Fried Salmon Patties that are golden-brown, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can of salmon, packed in water or oil
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, panko or regular
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon: Open the can of salmon and drain it well. Use a fork to carefully flake the salmon into a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix the ingredients: Add the breadcrumbs, chopped onion, eggs, and Dijon mustard to the bowl. Sprinkle in a little salt and pepper. Mix everything with your hands.
  3. Form the patties: Once combined, form the mixture into small patties, about 2 to 3 inches wide.
  4. Heat the oil: In a large skillet, pour in about 1/4 inch of oil and heat it over medium-high.
  5. Fry the patties: Carefully place the formed patties into the hot oil, frying for about 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain and serve: Once cooked, transfer the patties to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

Notes

Serve with coleslaw, a squeeze of lemon, and tartar sauce for an extra punch. These patties can also be baked at 375°F for about 20 minutes.
