Easy Mango Sago

A refreshing and creamy dessert made with sago pearls, mango puree, and coconut milk, perfect for warm weather.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sago Pearls
  • 2 large ripe Mangoes
  • 1 can full-fat Coconut Milk
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 4 cups Water for boiling
  • a pinch of Salt
  • Optional Toppings: Fresh mint leaves, additional diced mango pieces, extra coconut milk

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sago by rinsing 1 cup in cold water for a minute or two.
  2. Boil 4 cups of water in a saucepan until rolling.
  3. Add the rinsed sago to the boiling water and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Peel and chop the mangoes into chunks while the sago cooks.
  5. Blend the mango chunks in a blender until smooth.
  6. Check the sago; it should be nearly translucent.
  7. Rinse and drain the sago in cold running water.
  8. Mix the sago with coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  9. Incorporate the mango puree and mix well.
  10. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  11. Serve the mango sago in bowls and garnish with mint or mango pieces.

Notes

Adjust the sugar level to taste and allow the dessert to chill for better flavor melding.
