Healthy Baked Churro Bites

A delightful, healthier version of classic churros, these mini baked churro bites are guilt-free treats packed with flavor and whole ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1/4 cup Honey or Maple Syrup
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tbsp Light Butter or Coconut Oil, melted
  • 2 tbsp Cinnamon-Sugar Topping (2 tbsp sugar mixed with 1 tbsp cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a medium bowl: flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients in a separate bowl: applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
  5. Shape rounded balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and set, then cool for 5 minutes.
  7. Coat in the cinnamon-sugar mix while still warm.
  8. Enjoy warm with your choice of dip!

Notes

These churro bites can be made in a mini muffin tin for a fun twist. For storage, keep them in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
