Hibiscus, Lemongrass, Basil, and Honey Sweet Iced Tea

A refreshing iced tea combining tart hibiscus, zesty lemongrass, aromatic basil, and sweet honey, perfect for summer days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Dried Hibiscus Flowers
  • 2 stalks Lemongrass (chopped into 1-inch pieces)
  • 1 handful Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup Honey (to taste)
  • 4 cups Water

Instructions

  1. Prep the Herbs: Start by preparing your hibiscus flowers and lemongrass. If you’re using dried hibiscus, measure out 1 cup. For lemongrass, rinse stalks and chop them into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Boil the Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil. Once bubbling, turn off the heat.
  3. Steep the Hibiscus and Lemongrass: Add chopped lemongrass and hibiscus to the pot. Stir gently, cover, and steep for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Strain and Sweeten: Strain into a pitcher, remove solids, and add honey while warm. Stir until fully dissolved.
  5. Add Basil: Tear fresh basil leaves and add them to your pitcher for extra aroma. Muddle if you desire a stronger flavor.
  6. Cool Down: Allow tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
  7. Serve Over Ice: Fill a glass with ice and pour over the chilled tea. Garnish with basil or lemon if desired.

Notes

For a refreshing twist, experiment with adding citrus slices or berries. Consider serving in clear glasses to showcase the vibrant color.
