Lemon Brownies

Sweet, zesty lemon brownies that are chewy and refreshing, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for frosting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  3. Combine the melted butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl, then add the eggs one at a time.
  4. Add the lemon zest and freshly squeezed lemon juice to the mixture.
  5. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl, then fold it into the wet ingredients.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared dish and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool the brownies for 10 minutes, then frost with optional lemon frosting before cutting into squares.

Notes
