Smash Burger Mac Skillet

A delightful skillet dish combining the flavors of smash burgers and creamy mac and cheese, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni: Boil salted water, add macaroni, and cook until al dente, about 7-9 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the beef: In a skillet, melt butter, add ground beef, and sear without stirring for a few minutes. Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add aromatics: Toss in onion and garlic, sauté for about 3-4 minutes until onion is translucent.
  4. Mix in the mac: Fold the cooked macaroni into the beef mixture, adjusting seasoning as needed.
  5. Create the cheese sauce: Pour in milk, stir in cheddar cheese, and heat on low until cheese melts. Add more milk if too thick.
  6. Final touches: Sprinkle extra cheese on top, cover, and let sit for a few minutes.
  7. Serve: Spoon onto plates or serve from the skillet, garnished as desired.
